Psalm 80
1For the Chief Musician; set to Shoshannim Eduth. A Psalm of Asaph. Give ear, O Shepherd of Israel, thou that leadest Joseph like a flock; thou that sittest upon the cherubim, shine forth.
2Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up thy might, and come to save us.
3Turn us again, O God; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
4O LORD God of hosts, how long wilt thou be angry against the prayer of thy people?
5Thou hast fed them with the bread of tears, and given them tears to drink in large measure.
6Thou makest us a strife unto our neighbours: and our enemies laugh among themselves.
7Turn us again, O God of hosts; and cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
8Thou broughtest a vine out of Egypt: thou didst drive out the nations, and plantedst it.
9Thou preparedst room before it, and it took deep root, and filled the land.
10The mountains were covered with the shadow of it, and the boughs thereof were like cedars of God.
11She sent out her branches unto the sea, and her shoots unto the River.
12Why hast thou broken down her fences, so that all they which pass by the way do pluck her?
13The boar out of the wood doth ravage it, and the wild beasts of the field feed on it.
14Turn again, we beseech thee, O God of hosts: look down from heaven, and behold, and visit this vine,
15And the stock which thy right hand hath planted, and the branch that thou madest strong for thyself.
16It is burned with fire, it is cut down: they perish at the rebuke of thy countenance.
17Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand, upon the son of man whom thou madest strong for thyself.
18So shall we not go back from thee: quicken thou us, and we will call upon thy name,
19Turn us again, O LORD God of hosts; cause thy face to shine, and we shall be saved.
Psalm 81
1For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob.
2Take up the psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery.
3Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, at the full moon, on our solemn feast day.
4For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
5He appointed it in Joseph for testimony, when he went out over the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I knew not.
6I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were freed from the basket.
7Thou calledst in trouble, and I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah
8Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto me!
9There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god.
10I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
11But my people hearkened not to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
12So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.
13Oh that my people would hearken unto me, that Israel would walk in my ways!
14I should soon subdue their enemies, and turn my hand against their adversaries.
15The haters of the LORD should submit themselves unto him: but their time should endure for ever.
16He should feed them also with the finest of the wheat: and with honey out of the rock should I satisfy thee.
Psalm 82
1A Psalm of Asaph. God standeth in the congregation of God; he judgeth among the gods.
2How long will ye judge unjustly, and respect the persons of the wicked? Selah
3Judge the poor and fatherless: do justice to the afflicted and destitute.
4Rescue the poor and needy: deliver them out of the hand of the wicked.
5They know not, neither do they understand; they walk to and fro in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are moved.
6I said, Ye are gods, and all of you sons of the Most High.
7Nevertheless ye shall die like men, and fall like one of the princes.
8Arise, O God, judge the earth: for thou shalt inherit all the nations.
Psalm 83
1A Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O God, keep not thou silence: hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God.
2For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
3They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult together against thy hidden ones.
4They have said, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.
5For they have consulted together with one consent; against thee do they make a covenant:
6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagarenes;
7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre:
8Assyria also is joined with them; they have holpen the children of Lot. Selah
9Do thou unto them as unto Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the river Kishon:
10Which perished at En-dor; they became as dung for the earth.
11Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb; yea, all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna:
12Who said, Let us take to ourselves in possession the habitations of God.
13O my God, make them like the whirling dust; as stubble before the wind.
14As the fire that burneth the forest, and as the flame that setteth the mountains on fire;
15So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy storm.
16Fill their faces with confusion; that they may seek thy name, O LORD.
17Let them be ashamed and dismayed for ever; yea, let them be confounded and perish:
18That they may know that thou alone, whose name is JEHOVAH, art the Most High over all the earth.
Psalm 84
1For the Chief Musician; set to the Gittith. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. How amiable are thy tabernacles, O LORD of hosts!
2My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out unto the living God.
3Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
4Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah
5Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the highways to Zion.
6Passing through the valley of Weeping they make it a place of springs; yea, the early rain covereth it with blessings.
7They go from strength to strength, every one of them appeareth before God in Zion.
8O LORD God of hosts, hear my prayer: give ear, O God of Jacob. Selah
9Behold, O God our shield, and look upon the face of thine anointed.
10For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.
11For the LORD God is a sun and a shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
12O LORD of hosts, blessed is the man that trusteth in thee.
Psalm 85
1For the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. LORD, Thou hast been favourable unto thy land: thou hast brought back the captivity of Jacob.
2Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people, thou hast covered all their sin. Selah
3Thou hast taken away all thy wrath: thou hast turned thyself from the fierceness of thine anger.
4Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine indignation toward us to cease.
5Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all generations?
6Wilt thou not quicken us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.
8I will hear what God the LORD will speak: for he will speak peace unto his people, and to his saints: but let them not turn again to folly.
9Surely his salvation is nigh them that fear him; that glory may dwell in our land.
10Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11Truth springeth out of the earth; and righteousness hath looked down from heaven.
12Yea, the LORD shall give that which is good; and our land shall yield her increase.
13Righteousness shall go before him; and shall make his footsteps a way to walk in.
